Playstation 3 Systems
The Pros:The PS3 has a Stylish design and operates quietly. All games are in high-definition. The Playstation 3 has a User-friendly interface. It also plays high-def Blu-Ray movies, in addition to upscaling standard DVDs. Built-in Wi-Fi, 40GB hard drive and free online play and free online gaming service.
The Cons: The PS3 doesn’t play PS2 games. Only a small selection of exclusive games. PlayStation rumble controller not available until 2008. The glossy black shows dirt and dust. Online gaming, media, and commerce options not as developed as Xbox Live.
The Summary: The Playstation 3 System is a great package for the money, as long as you can live without backward compatibility for PS2 games.
Nintendo Wii Systems
The Pros: The Wii System has a Revolutionary controller design and offers unique motion-sensitive gameplay options. Built-in Wi-Fi delivers free online services and gameplay. Virtual Console has appeal. Plays all GameCube games and compatible with GameCube controllers. Most include Wii Sports games. Relatively affordable home game console.
The Cons: The Wii controller runs out batteries and the design takes some time to get used to. Online gaming and community, time consuming and somewhat difficult to use. The nunchuk controller is sold separately. The Wii can't play CDs or DVDs.
The Summary: The Nintendo Wii System lacks the graphical prowess and rich media features of the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but the Nintendo Wii's combination of unique motion-sensitive controllers and emphasis on gameplay, make this affordable console hard to resist.
XBox 360 Systems
The Pros: The XBox 360 has a much better selection of games, including several console-exclusive titles. All games are in high-definition. Easy-to-use Dashboard interface. Pleasant online gaming and communications experience via XBox Live. Plays most (but not all) original XBox games. Doubles as a superior digital media hub and Windows Media Center extender. Online Marketplace allows for easy purchases of downloadable full-scale games, mini-games, movies, and TV shows.
The Cons:The XBox 360 has a noisy exhaust fan and DVD Drive. The power supply is over-sized. No built-in wireless networking or flash media reader. DVD has substandard video quality. 20GB hard drive fills up very quickly. You must pay for online gaming subscription.
The Summary: The XBox 360 has extensive digital media features, a superior online service, and an excellent library of games, the XBox 360 remains the game console to beat.
